Location: Hybrid (2-3 days from the Manchester or Blackpool office, remainder WFH/Remote – other offices, Birmingham, London, Sheffield, Leeds may be considered also)

As a
Commercial Officer: Digital Hardware Sub-Category your main responsibilities would be:


The Role:

The individual will provide end to end category management for procurements and contracts within the hardware sub-category. This will entail market research and analysis, running of procurements and management of contracts in this space. Procurement will be primarily through mini-competitions under existing CCS frameworks.

The individual will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining an accurate and up to date pipeline of hardware procurements and contracts and interacting with stakeholders to both ensure their needs are represented on the pipeline and to ensure they are aware when commercial activity will need to start;
  • Building and sharing market knowledge regarding the IT hardware market, and using that market knowledge to shape requirements and commercial approaches;
  • Planning and running procurements for required hardware and associated services, recommending the appropriate sourcing route, running the procurement process (including advising stakeholders as to how they need to contribute), making recommendations into governance and finalising effective contracts.
  • Providing commercial management of the resultant contracts and, through advice and oversight, ensure that stakeholders are performing appropriate operational management of the contracts.
  • Reviewing the pipeline and existing contracts to identify saving opportunities; register and plan for the delivery of such savings and report on progress


You’ll have relevant experience in:

Essential Skills:

  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills;
  • Experience of running procurements through CCS IT frameworks;
  • Negotiation skills;
  • Ability to manage a busy workload with competing priorities;
  • Contract and supplier management.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of IT hardware procurement;
  • Knowledge of the IT hardware market;
  • Ability to apply market knowledge to secure better deals.
