Our client, an independent connections provider of High and Low Voltage electrical services nationwide, are currently looking for an Civils Operative to join their Swindon based team.
Employing solely high skilled and qualified engineers with sound technical understanding of electrical engineering, our client offers turnkey solutions for any electrical challenge up to 132kV. You can rely on them to ensure your electrical network is operating efficiently and to the highest levels of safety.
Being an Independent Connect Provider (ICP) through the National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS) allows them to provide an ‘end to end’ service, including connection to the DNO’s network.
About the role
As we increase our business, we are on the look out for a Civils Operative to come and join our growing Operations team on a 6 month contract. In this role you will carry out any tasks reasonably required or requested both on and off site and to ensure all works are carried out in a safe and professional manner whilst in accordance with all associated RAMS.
We need someone who is a self-starter with experience in the electrical industry who challenges what we do on a daily basis to maintain the highest standards of safety and is keen to develop helping us build for the future - Could that be you?
Key responsibilities will include:
· Recognising danger and suspending any work activities until safe and authorised to proceed.
· Carrying out the excavation and reinstatement of cable trenches and joint bays using handheld tools and mechanical excavators (once trained and qualified to do so).
· Installing high and low voltage mains and service cables.
· Carrying out and accurately recording formal risk assessments of the workplace.
· Being authorised for entry into substations for installation and standby duties.
· Acting on instructions through plans, drawings and written or verbal communication.
· Ensuring clear understanding of work instructions prior to work commencements and accurately recording details of work undertaken.
· Loading and unloading equipment from vehicles safely and securely.
· Supporting the Civils Labourer and/or the Civils Team with general labour and site maintenance activities.
· Ensuring safe handling and use of tools and machinery in line with manufacturer’s instructions and completed training or qualifications.
Our commitment
· The role is based out of our Head Office in Swindon however with regular travel Nationwide and yes this will include over-night stays on occasions, however we will make this as cosy as possible and will provide a hotel and food as required.
· Fixed-term contract for a period of 6 months, working full time (37.5 hours a week), exclusive of travel time.
· We will be offering a basic annual salary between £25,000 and £30,000 depending on experience; plus paid travel time on top of this.
· You will get 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays ensuring you have time to spend with family and friends; this will be pro-rated based on the fixed term period.

About you
We are looking for someone who currently, or has previously held the following:
· Right to work in the UK
· Full UK Driving Licence (with a maximum of 3 points)
· CSCS Card (or affiliated).
· Experience working in the electrical industry
