Job summary

The End User Services (EUS) Portfolio (within Defence Digital) is responsible for the development, procurement and delivery of the Ministry of Defence’s core Information and Communications Technology (ICT) capability. The span of projects delivers enterprise computing capabilities across the global MOD estate and across multiple security domains. The portfolio includes some of the largest and most complex ICT projects in Europe.

Defence Digital provides digital and technology services to our Armed Forces, ensuring they can operate securely via radio, satellite, and the internet. Operating at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, we're aiming to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world.

Job description

As a Delivery Manager in the Future Secret Team, you will be supporting the project, including working with stakeholders to contribute to acquisition plans, commercial strategy, planning and risk management, supplier management and governance to deliver the next generation of secure IT for Defence. Some specific responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Future Secret projects including working with stakeholders to contribute to acquisition plans, commercial strategy, planning and risk management, supplier management and governance to deliver the next generation of secure IT for Defence
  • Using experience of project controls to lead on development of schedules, plans, risks and dependencies
  • Using knowledge of MOD Acquisition to contribute to project Approvals and developing business and commitment cases
  • Engagement and planning with stakeholders across DD to ensure joined up capability delivery
  • Facilitating the gathering and shaping of requirements to support the programme, including engaging with customers, wider stakeholders, and technical experts to accurately capture, document and record requirements
  • Shape client-side resource demands focused on deliverables to support project outcomes including driving through commercial processes to deliver the required results.

Person specification

As a Delivery Manager in the EUS Team, the role will require you to:

  • Operate at scale and provide the connection between multidisciplinary business areas and stakeholders
  • Ensure the necessary business processes are followed
  • Participate in the governance of the service, including acting as a point of escalation for the delivery teams
  • Own the budget and allocate funding to areas of the service based on your decisions about priorities
  • Communicate the benefits and performance of your service
  • Be responsible for the successful operation and continuous improvement of the service
  • Working with the wider team to improve delivery outcomes
  • Working with Project Controls experts to develop schedules, plans, risks and dependencies
  • Supporting the wider team to develop an integrated, capability driven approach to capability delivery
  • Engagement and planning with stakeholders across Defence Digital to ensure joined up capability delivery
  • Supporting the wider business transformation of the EUS team.


This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.


The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
