Helix continues to deliver an above market service to its existing client base, operating from its central London office. Helix manages all commercial asset types nationwide, but with a focus on prime central London offices, accounting for 70% of their portfolio. Operating under one roof the surveying, facilities management and finance functions work closely and collaboratively together. Everyone works in an open plan environment which cultivates a relaxed and fun working atmosphere, openness with colleagues at every level and in close proximity to the Hines offices.

Responsibilities:
You will be joining at a hugely exciting time for Helix with the opportunities that the acquisition by Hines brings including the growth of the portfolio, a greater need for Design for Management expertise on the Hines development pipeline and an increased focus on ESG and technology. You will be fully responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting for the student accommodation operations, with an emphasis on improving operations and client reporting. In addition, you will support the wider finance team in order to meet all stakeholder requirements. You will be integral to the team to ensure all controls, policies and procedures are developed, maintained and consistency applied.
  • Oversee and manage the accounting for the student accommodation operations; including procedures and controls
  • Assist the Finance Director in running the Finance Team
  • Meeting reporting deadlines
  • Review accounts for both company and client accounting
  • Cash management on a daily basis
  • Line management responsibility
  • Assisting in the budget process
  • Preparation and submission of annual statutory accounts pack
  • Liaising with auditors
  • Ensuring the company develops and maintains controls
  • Ensuring that company policies and procedures are consistently applied to the required standards and to make changes to these as required
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements include:
  • An audit background
  • Significant experience of accounting
  • Excellent understanding of accounting
  • Previous experience of procedures and controls
  • Accounting qualification
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good numerical skills including computer literacy (Excel, Word, MS Outlook)
  • Familiar and confident in social media and how this contributes to the profile and success of a company
  • Ability to lead and foster good followership
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • High level of organisational and administrative skills
  • Proven track record in managing staff
  • Able to use initiative and take responsibility
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Able to fit in with a diverse work team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
