Role Overview

This role can be carried out across multiple locations - Dublin, UK and the Isle of Man

CL Re has executed multiple large asset intensive reinsurance tractions over recent years and is seeking a highly capable individual to lead its efforts to further expand this business. The Head of Asset Intensive Reinsurance is a Dublin based leadership role with responsibility for developing CL Re’s strategy to enhance its global asset liability management practices and new business proposition for asset intensive transactions.


The focus of the role is developing and implementing strategies to optimize CL Re’s liability driven investment strategy, including seeking opportunities to profitability add new business.

Key Accountabilities


The role will lead a small team of professionals with the following core objectives:



  • Work in collaboration with CL Re’s investment manager to develop strategies that optimize the return on CL Re’s asset portfolio in the context of its risk appetite, financial reporting and regulatory constraints.
  • Work in collaboration with the investment and business development teams to identify new business opportunities and develop optimal liability driven investment strategies to win new business in markets across Europe, Asia and the Americas.
  • Manage transaction execution of new asset intensive reinsurance transactions.
  • Develop reporting and governance frameworks to monitor the success of the ALM strategies and ensure that performance and risk objectives are carefully controlled.

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills


The successful candidate will have:



  • A deep understanding of insurance assets and liabilities in the context of life insurance products, accounting and regulatory regimes.
  • The demonstrated critical thinking capability to innovate and develop new solutions to unstructured commercial challenges.
  • A proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders, both intracompany and external.
  • Familiarity with quantitative techniques and technology.
  • Direct asset liability management experience and familiarity with current market practice is a major plus.
  • Have 10+ years of experience with a suitable quantitative degree of qualification. The successful candidate is expected to have multiple years of accountability for leading a successful commercial operating unit, function, or business.
