Job Description
Reporting into the Associate Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the supervision of timely, accurate, compliant delivery of accounting close (5 day month end close) for the EMEA region in accordance with IFRS &/ US GAAP requirements.
A significant focus of the role is to ensure month end, quarter-end and year-end processes are executed to a high degree of accuracy meeting tight reporting deadlines. You would also be managing a team of accounting professionals to deliver balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis for the EMEA countries. You would drive standards and adherences of balance sheet controls to reduce financial exposures. During month end, you will be working closely with the FP&A team, ensuring P&L trend variances are sufficiently explained.
You would continuously drive improvements to internal processes and controls within the wider EMEA region, particularly around Accounting SOX controls. A further focus area is to build a good working relationship with key stakeholders in the business, in order to improve overall knowledge, thereby increasing the level of understanding and questioning.
You are responsible for internal and external audit fieldwork and the subsequent resolution of any audit issues. It should be noted that tight reporting deadlines would often require a degree of flexibility regarding working hours, particularly around month end, quarter end and year-end.
Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities
- Review financial statements and subsidiary schedules to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Ensure that monthly close process is completed and all necessary entries and adjustments are recorded
Coordinate timely distribution of financial information to client
Communicate with client to ensure that contract requirements are being met
Coordinate and oversee external audits by client or outside auditors/agencies
Evaluate internal controls and processes continually to ensure efficiency and conformity with team goals
Remain current on all technical accounting/software issues related to the industry
Communicate department goals and objectives to staff and develop methods of implementation
Candidate Profile
- Experience of working in a large multinational company (desirable), with solid knowledge of end to end processes (essential)
- Bank Reconciliations
- Trial balances
- Pre-payments and accruals
- Fixed Assets
- Intercompany Accounts
- P&L + BS Variance
- Experience of managing team within periods of substantial change
- Significant accounting experience
- Part or nearly qualified in ACCA or CIMA
- Have auditing experience both internally and externally
Experience of leading continuous improvement projects
