Job Title: Specialist Pharmacist ED and Admissions
Division: Unplanned & Integrated Care
Band: 8a
Salary: £50,952 - £57,349 per annum/pro rata
Interview Date: Week Beginning 12th June 2023
We are recruiting for aSpecialist Pharmacist ED and Admissions who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
The post holder will be required to lead, provide and develop specialist clinical pharmacy to the Emergency Department and the admissions areas. The post holder will liaise between wards, departments and pharmacy to ensure that pharmacy services are tailored to meet the required needs wherever possible.
The post holder will specifically be expected to:
Lead a pharmacy service in accordance with current professional standards and clinical governance guidance.
Ensure the safe and timely discharge of patients from the admission areas
Work closely with the department, care group and directorate and lead on information in relation to clinical and financial aspects of drug prescribing such as drug protocols and drug budget management
Develop and ensure regular pharmacist attendance on post take ward rounds.
Act as a specialist role model and an expert in emergency, acute and general medicine and train rotational pharmacy staff at ward level.
Ensure all staff and teams are motivated, perform effectively and provide high quality and safe service levels.

The pharmacy department sits within the Unplanned & Integrated Care directorate and provides medicines optimisation services to the entire Trust. The department is undergoing exciting changes with a desire by the team to focus on continuous improvement of our services for the benefit of our patients
To manage the delivery and development of the clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department and the admissions areas
To facilitate the safe and timely discharge of patients from the admissions areas, and to work with the department, care group and directorate to lead on initiatives to improve the discharge process.
To ensure high standards of clinical and financial pharmaceutical management
To lead a pharmacy service in accordance with current professional standards and clinical governance guidance
