Your new role


We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Commercial Buildings Surveyor to join our team within the Analytica & Advisory (A&A) business of Amey Consulting.

Amey TPT, part of the (A&A) business, bring commercial expertise to property owners across UK infrastructure; we maximise revenues and asset values through enhancing our clients strategic offering.

We work with clients who want to utilise the high footfall of customer traffic moving through their properties. We understand this captive audience better than anyone else in the industry. From initial business planning and valuation, leasing, and property accounting to reporting and managing tenants; we take charge of all aspects of commercial estate management and provide the consulting expertise too, along the way.

As the Commercial Buildings Surveyor, you will provide building surveying services and assist the Asset Managers to grow commercial income. In addition to this you will also provide sound technical skills across the full range of activities carried out by the profession and provide advice and guidance to the client’s estates team and client’s tenants.


The standard hours of work are


40 hours per week

You will be responsible for

  • Ensuring that safety is always the priority, promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and our Safety Responsibility Statement
  • Liaise or attend meetings with the client and tenant’s contractors and submit technical consent applications to the client on the tenant’s behalf.
  • Liaising with tenant’s their contractors or designers and where applicable assist to ensure shop fit plans contain information to obtain client/Network Rail approval. Attend site for meetings when required.
  • Liaising with tenant’s and their contractors and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and where compliant liaise with the clients Safety Review in obtaining consent and where consent received, issue Authority to Work.
  • Chairing and attending pre-start meetings with tenant’s contractors, tenants, and representatives of Station Management in advance of tenant’s works.
  • Monitoring Tenants contractors works on site to ensure compliance with approved RAMS and clients Health & Safety Processes. Attend meetings with Tenant’s contractors during works.
  • Attending completion meetings with tenant’s contractors, receiving copies of compliance paperwork in advance of issuing Authority to trade. Where applicable submit as built designs.
  • Provide detailed specifications for works and to liaise with contractors in obtaining quotes.
  • Project Managing client’s contractors on approved schemes
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients, in order that their requirements are fully understood and implemented
  • Liaise with Tenant’s contractors promote use of generic method statements to encompass ongoing maintenance, liaise with clients Safety Review and where consent received, issue Authority to Work.
  • Attending site where technical knowledge is required inspecting faults and reporting to the client’s maintenance team, as required.
  • Ensuring all work undertaken complies with the RICS’ guidelines and practice notes
  • Identifying opportunities to up-sell / cross sell other services into client organisations as appropriate
  • Working with colleagues and the Amey Business Development function to identify and exploit new business opportunities for the Amey TPT division

We want to hear from you if you have / are

  • Educated to RICS accredited degree level or equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrable post qualification experience
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning, Health and Safety and Network Rail Technical regulations.
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Able to work to a high degree of accuracy and to prioritise and plan effectively
  • IOSH working safely (training can be given)
  • Have a high level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
