Salary: £32,164 per annum

Hours: 36.5 hrs per week, includes evening and weekend work on a rota basis

Job Description:

Apple A Day are seeking an experienced Outdoor Education Instructor for the role of Deputy Centre Manager at an excellent Outdoor Education Centre. This position is full-time with some evening and weekend work on a rota basis. However, part-time (4 days a week) will also be considered for the right candidate.

Run by a local charity, this Outdoor Learning Centre provides first class educational visits, residential experiences and exciting outdoor enrichment days for schools and youth groups. Some of the many adventure activities the centre provides include: Climbing, Archery, Mountain Biking, Canoeing, Kayaking, Paddle Boarding and more!

The successful candidate will benefit from working within an established team and will work closely with the Centre Manager on the delivery of high standard outdoor programmes to school groups, families, individuals, and community groups. They will oversee timetables, safety checks and staffing and support the centre manager in the growth of new bookings.

As well as supporting in the day-to-day management of the centre, the Deputy Centre Manager will need to be confident in leading groups and instructing teachers in the use of Outdoor Learning Cards.

The ideal applicant will need:

• Relevant experience managing similar outdoor education provision and at least 2 years’ experience of instructing outdoor activities.
• Ability to inspire and support in leading a team.
• Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Safer Recruitment and risk assessments.
• Ability to supervise, motivate and inspire young people.
• Full and valid driving license
• Be organised, confident and creative.
• Experience/qualifications in outdoor activities such as climbing and canoeing.
