The West Midlands Area Incident team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team player who loves being involved in the high tempo environment of incident response. You’ll be responsive, flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities. You’ll have a “can-do” attitude and be committed to creating an inclusive culture, helping to build a more resilient West Midlands for the communities and environment we serve.
In this role you will –
- Lead the teams Emergency Planning portfolio, whilst providing support for the other portfolios (Tactical First Response, Training & Exercising, Flood Incident, Environment Management)
- Receive full training to become an Area Base Controller or Planning Officer within the team
- Help the team coordinate the tactical first response of incidents within office hours, ensuring appropriate timely escalation and de-escalation of incidents
- Provide support to other duty officers through assurance of response and sharing situational awareness
- Support the planning and co-ordination of incident response activities such as building resilience, training staff, working with our professional partners, and post incident reviews
- Contribute to and attend the Area Incident Management Programme Board
- Produce local technical/operational documentation such as processes, operational instructions and other information to support incident management operations or ways of working
You will be required to have an incident role outside of tactical first response and be available to respond to incidents. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
