Job Title

Horticulture/Landscape & Life skills Tutor

Location:

Dunstable

Working Hours:

8.30 am to 5.00 pm OR 9.00 am to 5.30 pm, 1 hour lunch, Monday to Friday

37.5 hours per week. Hours and days would depend on what contract option you take see below

What are we looking for?

An engaging Horticulture/Landscaping & Life skills Tutor to be responsible for co-ordinating, designing, delivering and developing a programme of study for groups of learners. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, professional individual qualified/experienced in an appropriate discipline to join a forward-thinking organisation to develop and teach horticulture, gardening, and landscaping skills for learners to enter the sector. A patient person who can work with learners who may have some complex difficulties to overcome through their time on the programme.

You will be a highly self-motivated, energetic, and driven individual, encompassing a strong sense of autonomy. You will possess strong presentation and communication skills.

Qualifications:

· GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C or above, essential

· Teaching qualifications: AET/PTLLS/DTLLS/CTLLS/Cert Ed/PGCE or be willing to work towards

· Assessor quals (desirable)

  • Minimum of level two qualification within relevant vocational sector or significant occupational experience

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Develop best practice in learning, teaching and assessment ensuring standardisation and continuity.
  • Plan and develop schemes of work, lesson plans and positive support plans for learners
  • Organise lessons when working outdoors ensuring all are the correct tools and equipment are in place
  • To assess learners according to established guidelines.
  • To be resourceful and manage materials and tools for the programmes ensuring all health and safety is adhered to, always keeping learners safe.
  • Manage and maintain the programme environment ensuring the areas are always fit for learning
  • To engage with local companies and organisations to enhance the experience of all learners
  • To design, develop and monitor resources for learner use.
  • To act as personal tutor to a group/s of learners and co-ordinate tutorial support liaising with Centre Manager.
  • Provide accurate current feedback on progress and outcomes to managers and learners.
  • To monitor learner attendance and maintain appropriate standards of behaviour.
  • To keep up-to-date with curriculum initiatives, development of standards and general developmental and professional issues relating to the delivery of learning in your area.
  • To complete documentation, appropriate records of learner performance and administration associated with role and responsibilities.
  • To undergo continuous professional development as appropriate and directed.

Note: These duties are a guide to the work the post holder will initially be required to undertake. Amendments may be made from time to time as the role evolves and to meet changing circumstances and these do not form part of the contract of employment. Additionally, due to the ever-changing environment in which we operate, flexibility and the willingness to travel to other work locations are essential for these roles.

An enhanced DBS check will be a requirement for this position.
