More about the role

The Food and Generated Gases Maintenance Technical Coordinator is part of our Customer Engineering Maintenance team which is responsible for all equipment installed on our customer sites. The role reports to the Maintenance Technical Coordinator Supervisor.

The Maintenance Technical Coordinator reviews work orders and assesses how the job will be carried out, assigns appropriate labour, equipment, and materials. In this role, the coordinator will speak directly with suppliers, contractors, as well as internal and external customers.

The team of technical coordinators deal with planned and breakdown maintenance on industrial gases equipment, such as tanks, food freezers, non-cryo nitrogen generators, hydrogen and medical oxygen panels installed at customers and CryoEase and packaged gas depots within the UK. This role will focus on the food freezers/tunnels as well as the non-cryo nitrogen generators.

The most challenging part of the role is to proactively respond to a fault on a customer’s system remotely from our in-house dashboards, updating the customer, then arranging a suitably trained technician to attend site without changing any legally required planned in work. This can be in remote areas of the country where travel distances are long with a limited technician resource to draw upon.

As the Maintenance Technical Coordinator, you will also

  • Escalate to department management any customer site activity that will affect the customer’s ability to safely use the Air Products installed equipment
  • Ensure technical authority and guidance to the team when receiving and processing as required the active work orders
  • Look after and process all valid work orders for planned and unplanned maintenance activities ensuring that latest completion dates are adhered to.
  • Technically check and assign appropriate parts and appropriate labour to ensure the required onsite work is carried out safely and efficiently
  • Diagnose faults on a wide variety of equipment using third hand information and then ensure that the relevant equipment, parts and labour are arranged to resolve the issue


As the Maintenance Technical Coordinator, you already have

  • Positive approach to customer service
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot under pressure
  • Excellent focus on and understanding of operational safety
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Good IT skills (knowledge of SAP is beneficial but not necessary)
  • Good interpersonal skills
