Climate Change is the biggest risk we face. We are planning for future flood scenarios including a 4oC rise in global temperature and are working with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

This is an exciting assignment opportunity to lead an Asset Performance (AP) Team in our work to create a better place for people and wildlife. You will be responsible for both leading your team and for leading on portfolios of work, both within your local geography and across the Area.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual looking to further develop their leadership abilities. You will work closely with the leadership team in Operations and with other Team Leaders in Flood and Coastal Risk Management, the Area Leadership Group and our delivery partners. You'll be able to motivate, inspire and will have excellent communication and networking skills with an enthusiasm for innovation and continual improvement.
The team
The Asset Performance team is responsible for managing flood assets which protect communities across the area. You would lead a highly professional, multi-skilled team which includes asset managers and engineers responsible for delivering a broad asset and incident management remit. This includes planning our capital and maintenance programmes and leading our operational incident response.
Experience/skills required
We are seeking an experienced or aspiring leader looking to develop their career in Asset performance. Required skills and experience include:
  • Ability to motivate and inspire your teams, providing leadership and direction, prioritising team activities to deliver our asset and incident management objectives.
  • Ability to lead inclusively and recognise strength in diversity
  • Ability to develop the team and support individuals in achieving their full potential.
  • A strong commitment to ensuring our teams are safe and well, setting high standard in risk management, ensuring the provision of safe working practices in line with Environment Agency guidance.

  • Achievement of or an intention to work towards Institute of Asset Management Qualification (IAM).
Contact and additional information
  • You would be based at Sir John Moore House, Bodmin or Pennygillam Depot, Launceston.
The team works across the area so your time would be split between these sites. As such a driving licence is essential.
  • As part of this role you will be required to take part in incident response on a standby rota.
