Job Purpose:

We are Programme and Contract Management (PCM) Team within the Environment Agency, creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. Our teams provide the Environment Agency with an effective project, contract, and programme management service.

Our well-qualified staff manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities. For the NE PCM hub we have a team of around 130 staff, with offices in Leeds, York and Newcastle.


As a Project Manager your main responsibilities would be to:

  • Deliver a number of small to medium projects including flood risk assets that reduce the risk of flooding to communities.This role sits in Programme & Contract Management (PCM) team and is a position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for the delivery of projects as the Client project manager.
  • Manage the project delivery process from design to construction and handover back to the business.
  • Participate in Site visits to Newcastle, Durham, Northumberland & Tee-side


You’ll have:

  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in civils, construction or engineering or related discipline
  • Significant experience (minimum 7 years) in a project delivery and contract management environment, ideally within engineering, construction, environmental and/or flood & coastal risk management.
  • Experience of NEC3 or NEC4 type contracts
  • Self-starter and initiative, able to work on multiple small to medium projects
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills to ensure a collaborative environment.
  • A great working relationship with our delivery partners and internal stakeholders such as client and technical representatives, working in a collaborative and efficient way to deliver our projects.
  • Access to a car for Site visits
