Senior Technical Architect

Contract Term: 6 Months

Contracting Authority: Land Registry

Location: Remote working (Occasional travel to Plymouth)

We are looking for Senior Technical Architects from all domains to work with product owners, technical leads, software engineers, technical experts and business analysts throughout the change lifecycle to inform, shape and define our intentional architecture and develop emergent designs.

In line with our Technology Strategy we are using a business capability-based approach to simplify and modularise our technology estate, building solutions using a combination of HMLR built software and commodity services.

With over 25 teams delivering new and improved services we are looking for someone who can work closely with teams to design and develop end-to-end solutions using bespoke applications, Public Cloud Platform as a Service (AWS, Azure etc) and Software as a Service offerings.


As a Senior Technical Architect your main responsibilities would be:

  • Designing or reviewing whether security controls for a computer system are suitable; this is based on an understanding of both use and context, and how the system will likely be attacked
  • Researching and developing new techniques or tools to address the more systemic security problems
  • Researching and learning about new security toolsets and technologies, and championing and driving forward the on-boarding and implementation of security technologies and tools
  • Advising stakeholders on cyber security when making strategic decisions
  • Supporting the Lead Security Architect to develop the security architecture practice and champion good security practices across the organisation
  • Create and manage a range of security standards and patterns


You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • Experience of designing solutions based on AWS IaaS & PaaS (essential)
  • Experience of designing solutions that operate in hybrid models between cloud and traditional on-premise infrastructure
  • Experience of RedHat OpenShift or other Containerised technologie
  • Experience of designing common networking patterns
