Hours: Full-time, permanent

Christ the King Catholic School are seeking to employ a dedicated and conscientious KS2 class teacher and SENCo to join our dedicated, passionate and caring team. This is a permanent, full-time role commencing in September 2023. Our small and friendly school welcomes applications from candidates of all faiths and none, who are enthusiastic about working in a school where children are at the heart of all we do and our vision is rooted in the Catholic values of respect, resilience, stewardship, curiosity, forgiveness and love.

Skills and experience

Are you passionate about working with pupils to ensure they have their earning needs met in an engaging and inclusive classroom? Are you able to take the lead in supporting the needs of pupils with SEND in our mainstream school, supporting class teachers with their own practice to achieve this?

Due to the retirement of our current Year 6 teacher, an opportunity to teach an upper KS2 class, with the responsibility for SEND within our school has arisen. This role is ideally suited to those with previous experience of supporting SEND, either as SENCo or SENCo assistant.

Successful candidates will be:

    • A skilled professional who has an engaging and dynamic style of teaching and can support the needs of all learners across a mixed age range.
    • Willing to support the Catholic ethos of the school.
    • Driven to make sure all our children achieve their very best, having high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
    • A good or outstanding practitioner for phonics, able to deliver this across a mixed age range class.
    • Passionate about continuing their own professional development and open to learn and develop as part of a whole school team.
    • Have had experience of teaching and supporting children with SEND
    • Knowledgeable in the practices of SEN, including statutory paperwork to apply for and annually review EHCPs.
    • Able to work with and coordinate outside professionals to support pupils with SEND.
    • Able prepared to work flexibly as part of a close knit partnership using shared teaching approaches to learning.

What the school offers its staff

We can offer you:

    • a supportive and inclusive team of staff who have excellent relationships with each other and the children in our school
    • a school whose values are rooted in kindness and care through showing love for one another
    • amazing children, with a passion for learning
    • a dedicated whole school team who work together to develop professionally and support each other
    • opportunities to lead in a curriculum area suited to your expertise and experience
    • continued professional development, including working with the family of schools in the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust, including specialist training to meet the needs of pupils with SEN
    • a welcoming whole school community of pupils, parents, staff, governors and volunteers
    • practically, Christ the King has excellent access situated in the heart of Amesbury, with links to both the A303 and A345: commutes by car from Salisbury or Andover take no more than 20minutes.

Our school is proud to be part of The Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust (DCET), a multi-academy trust of Catholic schools across Clifton Diocese. This valuable partnership allows our school and staff the support and professional development opportunities of working collaboratively across a community of schools, whilst maintaining our own distinct school identity.
