Who we are?
Here within Anglian Water, the Development Services Delivery team collaborate with a number of alliance partners to provide the best water services across the Anglian region by installing new assets and re-routing our existing assets in collaboration with multiple external stakeholders to safeguard future water supplies.
The IMDS Alliance plays an essential part on our key performance metrics such as customer service, leakage, serviceability, quality and risk, therefore, we need to ensure effective planning and enabling of the end to end delivery process for our both planned and reactive work for IMR Partner resources.
With this in mind, we are looking for two Assurance Engineers to join us on a permanent basis to provide proactive, efficient and customer driven planning services to DSD IMR and our customers.
What will you be doing as an Assurance Engineer?
Reporting to the Assurance Manager, you will work closely with the other members of the Assurance Team and all other colleagues of the Development Services teams and their Delivery Partners to ensure CDM compliance, along with innovative, agile and cost-effective main laying solutions. You will also have a strong influence over IT solutions and processes. As an experienced engineer and mentor, you will help achieve a comprehensive and seamless service, and with your influence, our goal to achieve right first time every time in the design, installation, commissioning and adoption of all new AWS water infrastructure will be realised. This will also directly influence our DMeX scores.
Part of your role will be to provide occasional site auditing and supervision of complex activities involving any main laying. It is a requirement that the holder of this role will also become a Principal Designer within the context of Construction (Design & Management Regulations) 2015 by assessing and accepting a percentage of schemes up to medium risk (up to high risk if NEBOSH trained), all within our LOS targets.
A truly collaborative role - Working closely with your DS colleagues and Water Networks you will develop an expertise in the assessment, promotion and delivery of on site (new Development Site) and off site main laying, providing a cradle to grave scheme management for the effective delivery for all customer driven schemes.
A dual role – the Assurance Engineer will be a coach and mentor to any of your fellow team members of the Mains Engineering work stream. This will include supporting and advising the different DSD Managers with their delivery of development plans by providing on the job coaching for their teams. This may be the provision of site investigation for some schemes, with the potential to support with writing impact plans and providing technical expertise for schemes as an example.
What do you need?
Assessment of designs which align to customer and business needs
Ensure effective collaboration and appropriate involvement of scheme overviews, prior to approval
Assurance of the risk and value process for scheme designs to ensure thorough analysis has been completed
Personally ensuring your knowledge and understanding of your PD duty under CDM 2015
Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate Health & Safety in the Pre-Construction phase
Periodic supervision of site activities and the execution of Health & Safety and quality audits, to ensure that work is undertaken to agreed safety standards and in accordance with AW safety management systems
Aid our Delivery Partners with improved processes to ensure that construction is complete to agreed timescales/ LOS
Skills and experience required.
IOSH Managing Safely (desirable)
Good knowledge of CDM regulations and construction law including ‘CDM for Principal Designer’ training
Previous experience of performing the duty Principal Designer under CDM (desirable)
Educated to A level standard or equivalent or higher
Technical/ engineering background
Experience of identifying, developing and managing process improvements
Experience in a main laying/ service laying arena
Experience and proven understanding of water supply and network operations
Knowledge of operational processes – PE Pipe laying and jointing, Barrier Pipe jointing, Deep Excavations, Temporary Works, Service Avoidance, New Roads and Street Works Act
Significant water engineering and design experience of water infrastructure
