Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Civil Engineer Apprentice to join our NMC SW Team in Glasgow.


The salary is £22,627

Amey is working in partnership with Transport Scotland Southwest since August 2020, we are responsible for inspections, cyclical maintenance, asset management, scheme delivery as well as winter maintenance and incident response.

The team are first on the scene to assist road users on the road network, deliver engineering design and operational delivery services for more than 600 kilometres of road and 1,650 structures enabling reliable journey times and a high level of customer care for the people and businesses that use these roads every day.

A Civil Engineer Apprentice plays an important part in this role, you will work on our new NMC SW contract which is worth up to an estimated £690m, that will run for eight years with a potential to extend for a further four years. Working with Transport Scotland, Amey will deliver highways maintenance on the motorways and trunk roads, design road safety schemes, and look after bridges and structures.

What will you bring?

As a Apprentice, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the skills and opportunities you require to be a proficient engineer in this field.

We therefore keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:

  • 4 Highers (minimum B grades) including Maths or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Available to join the programme in September 2023
  • A full UK Driving licence is essential for this role
