Machinist – £16.50 Per Hour – Based in Eye, Suffolk – Monday to Friday – 8.00am till 4.30pm – Permanent

Hales Group are working with our client to find a machinist to work for their site in Eye. This is an opportunity to work with a company who have recently has an extension built and a hi-volume order book. We are looking for an experienced / skilled person to carry out milling & turning work to a high standard, unsupervised. A person skilled in either discipline would be considered.

The machines you will be working on are; Haas machines, ST35Y Turning centre with live tools & bar feeder, VM3 Mill with 30 + 1 tool magazine.

Other machines are:

  • A Colchester long bed lathe with indexing tool head.
  • A small manual lathe with digital read out.
  • A Tryax cnc vertical mill (Manual tool change).
  • A XYZ Vertical mill with Prototrak control.

Hours

Monday to Friday

8.30am – 4.30pm

Salary

£16.50 per hour

Duties Include:

  • You will need to be able to do own programming & setting up.
  • Be able to machine parts for our own workshop mostly in stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium & plastics.
  • Able to complete simple to more complex projects.
  • The ability to program offline would be a benefit as would carrying out some estimating duties, this could also possibly lead to a supervisory / management role in the future.
  • A willingness to do fitting work at times would also be helpful, along with carrying out general machine checks & maintenance.

  • You may also be asked to carry out other duties which are deemed reasonable & within your capabilities to suit the needs of the business.
  • Be able to work away from main factory on occasions.

  • Experience in turning and milling.
  • Be able to confidently program machines.
  • Be proactive and methodical.
  • Willingness to learn for opportunity to progress.
  • Full clean driving license.

Company benefits:

  • Workwear & protective equipment will be provided, it is your responsibility to look after & maintain this.
  • Holiday five weeks annually, of which 1 week to be taken over the Christmas period as dictated by the company.
  • Standard government specified pension.
  • Sick pay as government provided or as at company discretion.
  • Overtime is paid @ 1.5 x standard rate after 8hrs per day or 40 hours per week.
