ETL Developer Inside IR35

Contract Term: 12 months

Contracting Authority: UK Export Finance

Location: Hybrid – London – 1 day per week in office

This role requires you to work closely with the Technical Lead for Data Management to design and implement data retention policies, develop and maintain technical standards for data management and manage data storage platforms.

As an ETL Developer,your main responsibilities would be:

  • Be a visible leader and role model in your area, championing diversity and inclusion in how we work.

  • Responsible for staying up-to-date with industry trends in data management and data engineering, ensuring that the organization is using the latest tools and technologies.
  • Responsible for managing data platforms, such as data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage systems.
  • Responsible to provide technical leadership on the definition of development standards for specific technologies covering coding, version control and deployment
  • Responsible for developing and implementing data management processes, including data integration, data migration, and data storage.
  • Responsible for ensuring that data is secure and compliant with relevant regulations, such as GDPR. This may involve implementing data access controls, data encryption, and data masking.
  • Provide technical leadership to other data engineers, ensuring that they are following best practices and that their work is aligned with the organization's data management strategy.
  • Create and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for structured and unstructured data.
  • Mentor and manage a team of data engineers, providing guidance on technical best practices, code quality, and project delivery.
  • Manage the deployment and release of data pipelines and applications.
  • Design and implement data retention policies to meet regulatory requirements and business needs.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's data strategy and roadmap.


You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • You will need to hold active SC Clearance to be considered for this role.
  • Azure Cloud Computing, including Azure Managed Instance, Azure Data Lakes, and Azure SQL.
  • SQL Coding in T-SQL.
  • Using MSSQL stack.
  • Knowledge and experience of SQL Server Optimisation techniques.
  • Efficient and conformant Database Design skills.
  • Troubleshooting SQL Servers.
  • Using ETL tools (i.e. Informatica IICS).
  • Using Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.
  • Unit testing.
