About Us:

PHOENIX Healthcare Distribution is a national full-line pharmaceutical wholesaler with a network of distribution centres nationwide. We pride ourselves on delivering a high quality supply chain service to our customers, who include pharmacy, GPs, and hospitals. All of our depots are licensed by the MHRA, and comply with BSI ISO Quality and Environmental standards. We operate twice daily deliveries from our distribution centres across Monday to Friday and on a Saturday morning, and our local teams are supported by a centralised function team, primarily from our Head Office in Runcorn.


About the opportunity:

Being based in our Wakefield Depot, in this role you will be pivotal in ensuring patients receive their medication on time, by responding quickly and efficiently to repairs required and working in compliance with a planned preventative maintenance schedule. As a Technician, you will be working with depot facilities and automation each with support services in place ensuring equipment can be operation in minimal time. Ideally you will be familiar with automated conveying, order picking and despatch preparation equipment including lidding and strapping machines. setting high standards in housekeeping of both the equipment and surrounding depot facilities and working safely is paramount.

Reporting to the Systems Manager you will contribute to the smooth running of the site by minimising down time through effective prioritisation of workload and contributing to continuous improvement.


Salary £ 31,678

Working Pattern

Working hours: Rotating weekly with an average of 39.4 hours per week

Working Pattern:

  • Week 1; Monday to Friday 6am to 2:15pm
  • Week 2; Monday to Friday 7am till 3:15pm
  • Week 3; Monday to Friday 3pm till 11:15pm
  • Week 4; Monday to Friday 4pm till 12:15am
  • 1 in 2 Sundays from 7am till 12:00

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Education level of GCSE level C or above in Maths and English
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Basic Electrical or Mechanical installation or fault finding and maintenance
  • Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Attention to detail
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Good time management and planning




If you have any of the following then even better (but they aren’t essential):

  • Programmable Logic Controllers Qualification
  • Health and Safety Qualification
  • BS7671 18th Edition
  • Experience working within a Continuous Improvement environment e. Lean, Six Sigma, 5S
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
