What is the job role?

We are searching for a Trade Counter/ Warehouse Assistant o join our team at Gael Force Marine Equipment Ltd, based at our Plymouth store.

What we are looking for:

This role will support the Chandlery Manager in the running of the store by assisting with customer sales, warehousing and despatch duties to ensure a smooth operation with a view to maximising sales and customer service. As a key player in the operation of the Plymouth store, your duties will include processing orders, answering calls, emails or face to face contact with all customers, suppliers and fellow staff in a professional manner at all times. Tasks include:

    • Assisting the Manager in the day-to-day running of the Plymouth store, working to achieve targets set for these areas
    • A key player in the operation of the Plymouth store including answering calls, processing order emails or face to face contact with all customers, suppliers and fellow staff in a professional manner at all times and dealing with customer enquiries
    • Supporting the Area Sales Managers and contacting key customers in a customer service role with a view to maximising sales
    • Support and co-operate with the team and provide cover when needed
    • Greeting shop customers and assisting with all enquiries including product selection, information finding and problem solving
    • Maintenance of, or change to, product displays on a regular basis, Sale-products and general stock. Implementation of any promotions as required
    • Processing any price changes as required, either general increases/decreases or due to promotions ending report on an as required basis
    • Processing sales/order, refunds/credits and quotes
    • Maintaining the customer database and/or any other customer related information
    • Handling cash and receipts for the sale of merchandise by performing duties such as processing sales/invoices and balancing, sorting and securing cash.
    • Maintaining the cleanliness of the store by ensuring that maintenance duties are completed on a regular basis
    • Opening and closing the store (when required), ensuring all security measures are followed at all times
    • Supporting the manager in promoting the store and product range in whatever way possible, looking at ways to increase seals, increase awareness and maximise the store potential
    • To raise any concerning H&S issues to your line manager
    • To despatch orders in a timely and efficient manner- reporting any shortfalls to your line Manager

What youll need:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or sales role.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the role.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • IT competent.

Desirable:

  • Forklift operators certificate.
  • Experience in marine based environments

What can you expect?

In return for working a 39-hour week, we are offering:

  • A salary of between £21,000 - £23,000 per annum.

  • Sector leading annual leave allowance commencing at 30 days per annum and increasing generously with length of service.
